Kibble Park Place Plan and Concept Plan
For a long time, Kibble Park has been the heart of Gosford. It needs a refresh to make it a safe, welcoming and vibrant park that we can all be proud of.
Council commenced consultation on revitalising the park in 2020, and now that we have refined the design, we want to hear if we’ve got it right.
The refined Concept Design proposes an increase to the green space within Kibble Park which is a particularly rare opportunity within a City area.
Central Coast Street Design Manual
The Street Design Manual and the accompanying set of Standard Drawings and Technical specifications are a first for the Central Coast.
Streets have several functions – not only do they provide safe routes from place to place, but they can become a place in themselves inviting people to stay, socialise and interact. The Street Design Manual will support consistency across the regions’ town centres through street design, amenity and functionality whilst also supporting the unique character each place has.
Central Coast Local Housing Strategy
Council has prepared a draft Central Coast Local Housing Strategy to manage the supply of housing within the region.
The Local Housing Strategy explores the challenges associated with housing such as continuing rapid population growth, the shortage of low-cost rental accommodation and the lack of diversity within the existing housing stock and identifies a vision and key objectives to address these challenges.
A coordinated approach across all levels of government and the private sector is required to support diverse and sustainable housing on the Central Coast.
Safer Cities: Her Way
Central Coast Council is participating in the NSW Government’s $30 million Safer Cities program, aimed at improving the safety of women, girls and gender diverse people in public spaces around transport precincts.
Council is excited to be working closely with Transport for NSW to listen to the voices of local women, girls and gender diverse people, and trial initiatives that help them feel they can move freely and comfortably through their local public spaces.
Gosford will be the first location to benefit from this work, as many women and girls use, and depend on, public transport and hence the transport hubs, to travel to and from Gosford hospital in particular, as well as for other work or education reasons in Gosford.
Women, girls and gender diverse people have a right to feel safe as they move around the city and Council is excited to explore opportunities and learn from the work being undertaken through this program under the Let’s Talk Gosford banner.
Reclassification of Council-owned land at 73-75 Mann St Gosford
Council held a public hearing into the Reclassifications of Council-owned land at 73-75 Mann St Gosford in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993.
The Public Hearing was held on Thursday 30 March at Central Coast Stadium (14 Dane Dr, Gosford) from 5pm-7pm in the corporate marquee located on the ground floor on the Western side of the stadium.
Gosford Regional Library
Libraries are at the heart of creating liveable, connected and sustainable cities. The vision for the new Regional Library in Gosford is to create an iconic building in the heart of Gosford CBD, where our community can connect, create and collaborate.
The Gosford Regional Library has been a long running project for Central Coast Council which has been funded by a combination of former Gosford Council Special levy, Australian Government Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development’s Community Grants Program, Developer Contributions and Sale proceeds from Kibbleplex building. The project has received development consent from Department of Environment and Planning and tender process is currently underway. This is a key enabling project to support Council’s delivery of infrastructure within Gosford City.
Gosford waterfront revitalisation
Revitalisation of the Gosford waterfront is the Central Coast’s key enabling project. It reimagines the waterfront as not only a major opportunity for the city’s renewal, but a chance for Gosford City to join the great waterfronts of the world.
This project will propel the city to a new status – presenting a world-class destination with outstanding health, education, entertainment and lifestyle facilities with opportunities for business, visitor and the community.
Coastal Management Program: Hawkesbury-Nepean River System, including Brisbane Water
Central Coast Council in collaboration with five other Councils, is developing a Coastal Management Program (CMP) for the Hawkesbury-Nepean River System which includes our beloved Brisbane Water. The CMP will set the long-term strategy for the management of and actions to protect and enhance the waterway.
Our waterways need us, and we must develop these plans – find out more and stay updated here!
Roads and drainage projects
Council has 81 roads and drainage projects planned for Gosford over the coming years. These projects will further support the infrastructure requirements for Gosford to fulfil its role as the capital of the Central Coast and a thriving city.

Water and sewer projects
Council has nine water and sewer upgrade packages planned for Gosford over the coming years. These projects will set the foundations to support the Gosford’s entry to becoming a City and will allow for increase capacity across the water and sewer network.
To create places that bring our community together, we need to provide basic services so people can stay and enjoy our city. A key part of this is having access to reliable water and sewer services. Council is working through a program of 66 projects across the Gosford area and these projects will set us up to meet the needs of our community now and for the next 30 years.
The work includes 43 water projects and 23 sewer upgrades and is proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Housing Acceleration Fund (HAF).
