Our town centres are important places where we live, work and connect. Each one has their own unique identity formed by its community, culture, landscape and environment, landmarks and attractions, its history and future aspirations.
An identity package is an assembly of graphics, colours, words and phrases with emblems and other elements which are designed to express the town centre’s unique image and essence.
Council is currently in the process of preparing Identity packages for Terrigal and Avoca town centres.
Once developed, the package will be used by Council to guide the colour, look and feel of future street furniture, gateway signs, public art, street banners and other structures in these town centre public spaces. This is not a document that outlines future upgrades or planned projects for these town centres, but rather visual guidelines that are referenced in future planning to help unify design and reflect the town’s character.
The identity package can also be used by local businesses, property owners, creatives, designers and contractors to guide their own projects, upgrades and materials such as shopping bags.
How can I get involved?
The community and businesses were invited to share their thoughts and ideas by completing the survey on the Terrigal Town Centre Identity Package and the Avoca Town Centre Identity Package between the 2 and 30 October 2020.
We will now review the feedback received from the surveys.
The proposed community workshops for this project have been postponed until further notice. Before the identity packages are developed there will be further opportunities to participate in community consultation and these will be promoted to the community.
If you would like to stay up-to-date on this project, please register for notifications.
Identity packages for other Central Coast town centres
Council has collaborated with business owners, community groups, and other community members of Wyong, Toukley, Budgewoi, Woy Woy and Umina town centres to develop their identity packages.
The identity packages for Wyong, Toukley and Budgewoi are now finalised and each town centre’s unique identity emblem are now showcased on the recently installed gateway signs leading into each area.
The Woy Woy and Umina identity packages are still in development.
